Art movements are periods of history where a dominant method of communication, primarily painting–sculpture, architecture, and literature–is used across all mediums, coinciding with the current cultural issues, philosophies, and expressions of the authors, artists, and inventors.
NOTE: Contemporary work can still be categorized under historical art movements when they reflect the respective methods used.
